The planet civilians fight back!

Our dear planet feels so hot, in summertime we should try our best to provide cooling and refreshing stuff like one of these:

What's the price of equality?

Mani, the persian prophet

He was born in bobylon (now know as modern Iraq), as a gifted child he started preaching his religion and traveled to turkestan, Iran and India. In persia, he converted Shapur I brother Peeroz to Manichaeism and so was free to preach his faith but after shapur's death, the anger of the zurthustrian clerigies was intensified and so in Bahram rule he faced death. After his death the religion travelled all the way from britain to egypt and to china. He also claimed to be the last of all prophets and like Jesus he spoke of humanity once and for all. Fragments in turkish, egyption and persian are all evidence of who he was and Of what he meant.

The prophet Mani

The man who spoke of not one but all religions of the time, Christianity, Zoroastrian, Buddhism, and the one who preached all over Parthia, Persia and media and so as long as politics, the ruler, Shapur I of sassanid dynasty supported him. After shapur's death he faced the end in a tragic way.

Norouz, the most popular persian celebration

Anahati, The god of love

What is a vegetarian diet?

A vegetarian diet is one that excludes meat, poultry, game and fish. Vegetarians also aim to avoid eating battery hen eggs and any slaughter house by-products. Some people incorrectly call themselves vegetarians just because they avoid red meat or eat meat only occasionally. A vegan diet excludes all animal foods and their by-products such as eggs, milk, cheese and yogurt.

Are vegetarians healthier?

Studies in the past have suggested that vegetarians have a healthier diet that is lower in fat than their meat-eating neighbors, but more recent data on the nutritional composition of convenience vegetarian meals has cast doubt on whether a vegetarian diet is in fact low in fat. This healthier image of vegetarian diets is for example thought to attract the attention of young figure conscious teenagers who take it up in the hope that it will lead to weight loss. However, recent analysis of over 200 vegetarian convenience foods has shown that they contain between 33% and 50% fat. Therefore many of these products contain a similar, and in some case a greater amount of fat, than their meat-containing counterparts. While vegetarian convenience foods may appear attractive, they are not necessarily a healthier choice and simply swapping meat for meat replacements will not guarantee a low fat diet.
Some practical advice for the vegetarian
Eggs are an excellent source of protein, but have received some bad press in the past. Up to five eggs per week can be eaten as part of a healthy diet.
Frozen vegetables are just as nutritious as fresh vegetables.
Cooking vegetables for long periods of time can diminish their vitamin content. Alternative cooking methods such as steaming, roasting, stir frying or microwaving should be used to cook vegetables in addition to boiling.

SOME ADVANTAGES OF BEING A VEGETARIAN:

. Abundance of fiber. High fiber diets are associated with lower rates of obesity, cancer, and coronary artery disease. Fiber also promotes proper bowel function, helps stabilize blood-sugar levels, and helps reduce cholesterol.
. Decreased environmental impact. It takes 25 gallons of water to produce a pound of potatoes. In contrast, one pound of beef needs 390 gallons. The production of one pound of beef requires almost 16 pounds of plant protein.
. Variety of beneficial plant chemicals.
. Avoids the suffering and slaughter of animals.
. Naturally less saturated fat and cholesterol, plus fewer hormones.
. Takes less money. A pound of beans swells when cooked. A pound of ground beef shrinks.

. Avoids increased risk of chronic degenerative diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and high blood pressure.
. Eating lower on the food chain. Why not get nutrition directly from a plant-based diet instead of eating cows that get their nutrition from plants?

SOME DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A VEGETARIAN:

. Disadvantages to being a vegetarian would be the lack of protein you would receive.
. Another disadvantage would be all the meat you'd be missing out on. This doesn't go for all the types of vegetarians because only the strict vegetarians cut out all meet.
. Also if you were a strict vegetarian you wouldn't be able to drink some alcohol, of use stuff like soaps to stay clean because of what they contain.

300 The contrast, The lie of history

I suppose many of you have seen the movie 300. Persia has two thousand and five hundred years of civilization and the first known empire was Persia conquered by king Cyrus. Through the ancient history of Greece or Persia or Roman there are many heroes, of the glories, of their defeats, goodness and their mistakes. Some of them are highly praised for what they did whether it was war and killing or justice and humanity. Today Persian heroes are fairly ignored, even insulted for the situation now going on in the world, almost as if they can't accept the greatness of the ancient times upon this particular area. As a Persian, I don't wish to lie or hide the bad in my country's history but at least I have the right to demand the truth!

The movie 300 was lies upon lies so much that I don't know which one to begin with. I wish that only Persians were featured in the film by their own looks, however we are Persians not Africans. Slavery was banned in the period of the Xerxes I and all he did was to conquer Greece just as if their Hero Alexander the great did so. Of course he didn't respect the religions and customs in Egypt when he intended to overtake the revolts and the clergies intruding in government caused Metropolis to burn and Athens to be ruined. I ask all to check out the ancient statue of Xerxes I from the one shown in the movie and to judge the rest.

Iranian Customs

There are so many interesting and ancient customs to be found in Iran. Of the typical one's can be named: Norouz and Chaharshanbe suri (Wednesday celebration). Through the years Chaharshanbeh suri has lived and delivered to our generation but this ten gin has gone through some changes by the youth's interests and explosive devices.

The old tradition of jumping over fire as sign of relief from all years depression and gathering together has gone under some changes. At Wednesday celebration the sky of many Iranian cities including the capital, Tehran is lighter than daylight. Fire crackers blow everywhere and the sparklers lighten up the sky. This joy along with its anxiety and enjoyment brings in some degree of danger. People all over Iran strongly criticize the who Celebration thing but they wouldn't bother to do anything for declining the danger but ignoring the whole custom.

As for myself, a young Iranian, however I prefer staying home rather than taking the risk of getting hurt. I jump over a match light to perform the costume and get rid of all my stress, pressure of the past year.

A lily of a day looks so nice, your life is all like that, when it's over you have nothing to bound on to. You're as beautiful as nature, as free as the birds and as great as angels. So live on.

Tehran became the capital of Iran under the Ghajar rulers in 1789 and has changed from a sleepy town to a mega-metropolis with around 12 million residents. It is towered by Alborz mountains and Lavizan, sheeyan woods on the east side. Although tehran is a fairly new city, came to existance 17th century but the southern part now known as Rey has such a long history. Tehran is also part Media, a part of late Iran. In times of the previous rejime lots of people moved to Tehran for the industrialization and modernization going on, today the traffic, pollution has changed the minds.

Sun always shines for a better, brighter tomorrow.

Watch the fairies coming down from sky! They sometimes severely attack!!

Bahram chobeen, the genius soldier

In the year 588 AD, for the first time in history, an Iranian soldier called bahram managed to use crude oil balls on a launcher against Chinese. They had occupied the northeastern part of Iran ( now Tajikistan) then known as balkh. Bahram a man from Rey(present Tehran) and the govern er of Azerbaijan and Armenia. After a visit to Caspian sea he found out about the gushers of crude oil and created a way for making a launcher and so he did it. Sassanid shah of Iran, Hormoz chose Bahram of his great skills to face the invaders. The Persian army surprised the Chinese with a sudden attack and before anything can be done, only in one day kicked them back to the Pamir Mountains. As for 28 of November, it's the birthday of Tehran's Hero Bahram Choobin.

Old Tehran verses New Tehran

Check out to see how your city has changed in the last century.

Democracy in ancient Persia

Mazdak was born in estakhr (now known as Shiraz) in times of a peaceful sassanid king Gobad. For that he could preach his ideas of freedom, equality and fairness for all. He fought for the poor and asked for equality. He was a zarthutrian and indeed believed truly in god. He shared many ideas of Marx in his words but differences in illusions and theories.

However, Mazdak's actions weren't so pleasant regarding to the Zoroastrians clergies. They confronted king gobad for not reacting towards him and so he was imprisoned somewhere in khusestan. Siavash rescued him and so he had no chance for his thrown but to hit on mazdak and the mazdakians. His third son, Anoushirvan who didn't approve of them from the very beginning had the job done. Now a thousand and three hundred years later, we know a man who called for equality and help towards the lower classes of the society.

He was a socialist.

Cyrus the great

Great men lived through history just like one ordinary one, but in one second, by one decision they made all that changed. They may have conquered much but they did conquer their names in history. His words are now united nation’s charter for what he meant and did. Save his tomb for it’s the last of him remained for our generations. Visit the tomb of Cyrus the great located near Shiraz, Iran.
